Therapy Can Help You Work Through The Root Of Your Depression
Therapy can also help you work through the root of your depression, helping you understand why you feel a certain way, what your triggers are for depression, and what you can do to stay healthy.
Therapy Allows You To Explore Your Feelings And Emotions Openly
The role of a couples counsellor is to facilitate change and bring about a resolution by helping you both communicate more effectively and reach your own conclusions under professional guidance.
Listening To Peers Going Through The Same Struggles Can Validate Your Experiences And Help Build Self-Esteem
Often group members are at different points in their depression, so you might get tips from both someone in the trenches and someone who has worked through a challenging problem. At first I was pretty weary about starting counselling as I never fully understood what it could help me with. Now I would say that it is the best thing that I have done and I would put that all down to Stephen, as from the very first moment I met him I have never felt so welcome and safe by someone. I have been doing weekly sessions for the last 4 months. The progress I have seen within myself from the first session amazes me. The methods used within the sessions are always tailored to meet my needs within that specific moment in time which added to how safe I felt within every single session. I could not recommend a person more than I would Stephen, he has helped me get into the best place I have been for as long as I can remember and will be forever grateful for that.
Having tried a number of therapies through the NHS for my mental health, and having little success due to the lack of trust and group work I looked into counselling as my issues were not getting any better. I contacted Stephen and arranged my first appointment. I was not sure what to expect. Now almost 3 months of attending 1:1 weekly sessions I am starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Stephen is very good at listening and creates a relaxing and safe environment which has allowed me to talk freely about things I would never talk about previously. He offers very good advice and questions the way I think as to whether I have evidence to think the way I do. He has also used Schema Therapy during the sessions too. I totally trust him and would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about counselling. Do not be afraid to contact him as he will make you feel at ease to discuss the issues you are having.
I have been visiting Stephen for around six months now on a monthly basis. I sought help so I could understand certain situations that were challenging me mentally and becoming an obstacle in my day-to-day life. Having someone to listen to me and give me advice without judgement has helped me immensely move forward. Stephen has given me the tools I have needed to overcome some inner turmoil and helped me find myself amongst the noise. The positive impact of this support is immeasurable.
